PURPOSE

To create and maintain a social, recreational, entertainment, and record-keeping organization called The R.O.S.E. (The Rose Organization for Socializing and Entertainment). Activities will include celebrating, documenting, preserving, and exploring things related to lives of Donald F. and Marjorie W. Rose, their twelve children and their descendants. The organization will give particular emphasis to fostering connectedness among members of the extended Rose family, a wondrous and constantly evolving entity now so large that, let’s face it, you could be living next door to or sharing a dorm room, chat room, or waiting room with one of your own cousins and not even know it.

GOALS

To support and encourage research, recording, and sharing of the history and achievements of the Rose Family, within the boundaries of current libel and slander laws.

To build and maintain a website that can serve as a hub for the collection, preservation, and enjoyment of family photos, videos, audio recordings, writings, and stories. Said website could also include a record of memorabilia that family members have, think they have but can’t locate at the moment, wish they had or want to get rid of.

To pay homage to the fact that the family patriarch, in his student days, spent spring and summer living in a treehouse by creating and maintaining a central but private family tree, one that will have no house but that descendants can access, build on, and enjoy.

To compile a private database of health histories with the goal of helping descendants understand their own health.

To seek out books, publications, and other items significant to the Rose family to acquire and preserve.

To explore the possibility of creating a physical archive where memorabilia, photos, films, books, and other physical assets can be housed, preserved, and accessed. BUT NOT AT MY HOUSE.

To explore the possibility of acquiring and maintaining property/properties that have significance to the Rose Family, though the aforementioned treehouse, sadly, no longer exists.

To sponsor, coordinate, execute, and document (when appropriate) gatherings, events, and activities that support connectedness among descendants of Donald and Marjorie, including but not limited to family reunions, family-written operettas, Rose-related scavenger hunts, archaeological digs, historical re-enactments, and competitions reminiscent of the TV show “Survivor.”

To raise money to support the activities listed above and also to encourage volunteers to help. If no volunteers can be found, conscription by lottery will be employed.

To create and maintain a private directory for those who would like to share their contact information and connect with others in the family for mentoring, collaboration, communication, happy-birthdaying, recipe-swapping, and general grousing.

To continue the traditions of kindness, creativity, inclusiveness, and humor as demonstrated by Donald and Marjorie Rose and their children.
